Welcome. Here you can discuss the game, brag about how you reached a score of 100, complain about bugs, give suggestions, or just say you liked it.
It would be good if you include what phone you used if you have any comments that requires an answer.

| Sound only works on devices supporting nokia api (nokia phones, and I have noticed some SE phones too). I suppose it may be possible to add midp2 support for the sound also. When I first wrote it midp2 was quite new, but now many phones has it, so might be worth it. |

It works beautifully including sound except when it's giving you the pattern it'll double-flash and beep the first colour square the first time you press a button. Eg, blue (you press 2) blue blue green (you press 2 3) but after that it doesn't do it again.
Hope you can fix this! Keep up the good work!
Something wierd happened the other day too... I got to 25! Started looking at the keys and making patterns instead of just trying to remember! Heh |

Not sure what you mean, but it's supposed to flash and beep shortly when you press a button. Is this what you mean?

Hey hey, 25 is pretty good! Yeah, it kind of works that way, just like when you're typing phone numbers, you learn patterns instead of the numbers (at least for me )
(Although, I'm using a pen based device, so I don't press keys, I use the pen on the screen) |

Oh, sorry, I didn't quite explain myself!
Yep, I know it'll flash and beep. I've only tried it on my Sony Ericsson W800i (same as K750i, D750).
I've just descovered it'll freeze up if you're playing music in the background when you start a new game with the sounds switched on. Then I have to restart my phone! If I switch sounds off it'll work fine with music playing. If there's no music playing it beeps fine.
But the fault I was detailing before, I select new game, then it'll say press any key to start, I press any key, for example, it'll beep red. I'll press 5, then it'll beep red-red-green. This is the fault. I'll then press 5-3. Then it'll beep red-green-yellow. I'll press 5-3-7. Does that make more sense?
It'll do this every time (obviously with different colours. It repeats the first flash-beep twice then does the second flash-beep, once you've pressed the correct key for the first beep!
It's just confusing when I'm trying to show it to someone for the first time!
Also, just a suggestion... the settings menu, left soft key is 'select' right soft key is 'more' with options for 'use' 'save' 'back' - quite pointless 'use' and 'save' do the same thing anyhow! Perhaps 'change' and 'save' would be better left and right softkey options respectively rather than having a needless submenu on the right soft key.
I like the way you have right soft key as exit on the main menu! So few games/apps have that basic obvious 'feature' heh.
Keep up the good work! |

(Same guest as above, I'm Luke by the way!)
Oh yeah I forgot to actually reply to the other bit...
It's pretty great, addictive, and handy because the games are easy to fit in to spare moments of travelling, etc... easy to be distracted by something for a few seconds (assuming your memory is pretty ok)
I'm quite interested in memory, and the brain in general... I've looked into it a little, and based on what I read about alpha/beta/delta brain waves, I decided to have a go the moment I woke up... I've had some of my top scores when either falling asleep or just waking up.
Some patterns are definately easier to remember, apparently the brain remembers a maximum sequence of 7 digits, but I find I break the sequence down into groups of four, and, like you, it's more about muscle memory of my thumb and directions than 'what colour comes next', I can't seem to link the two clearly instinctively, I keep 'one eye' on the screen when it's giving me a sequence and 'one eye' on pretending to press the buttons on the keypad... then I pretend to repeat the last 'group' to help with the muscle memeory before I start reciting the whole lot for real. Otherwise I find I foget the new bit on the end.
Do you find when it double flashes (correctly) in the middle of a sequence it helps, or hinders? I find it helps separate the groups.
Anyway, I don't know if you're interested in all this, but I am, if anyone has any techniques they'd like to discuss! I've fluked it to 31 so far... interestingly 7 groups of 4, don't know if that's got anything to do with it... heh! |

Regarding the flash: Yes I believe you are in fact describing what I tried to say. The thing is, when you press a key, there is a quick flash to show you that key was pressed. At the beginning when you press 5, the game will show you so you know you pressed it, then quickly continue with the game, blinking 5,3. So it will look like it blinks 5 twice a row. It could be a bit confusing I guess, but only way to fix it is to add a pause between the sequences, I thought this would slow down the game, but... maybe it won't. Could try how it works out.
About the freeze: Ouch :/ However I'm not sure I can do anything about that, probably a phone bug thing...
Settings: They don't do exactly the same thing, Use doesn't save the settings for next time, which save will. It's this oldschool thing I have that you should be able to try out options and if it fecks up you can just restart the game and it will go back to how it were. I suppose for most cases you want to just Save. Ah well
Wow, 31 is quite amazing. I find it's beginning to be hard after 10-ish. My best score is 16 or something
Pretending to press button, yes, that's how I would do it on a keypad. I think it's harder on a pen device (Motorola A925, P800 etc), because you can't quite do that in the same way.
Some patterns are easier than others ofcourse. I'd think doubleflashing will help separate the "internal grouping" yes.
Actually, the game idea came from a memory test used when diagnosing ADHD It's for testing how long attention span a person has.
Thanks for the feedback btw. Glad you like the game! |

Ahh, yes... Those both make sense now you explain it!
Well, yep... it's a great lil game. Can't fault it now, and enjoy it too! I'm up to 33 now. I think it'll be an exponential decay in progress from here on! I've looked into the four colours 'simon' game, which has been around for 25 years. The sequence gets faster - and the record is 14... seems rather low to me, but I've never played it. Perhaps you could add a 'getting faster' option to the settings menu?
Thanks again,
Luke |

Actually, the sequence does get faster. 10ms per level, but maybe it's too slow of an increase At level 30 the delay between the flashes should be about 0.2 sec instead of 0.5 sec though. But I guess when the increas is in small steps you won't notice it as much.
But reaching level 30 is very good. It should be virtually impossible to reach level 50 |
